Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American British sitarist and musician. She was among the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Shield she has had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live in concert and be a presenter for the awards ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded around from London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha even though she is just 17 years old, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. She is often seen performing alongside her father and has performed with him for quite a number of years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated album Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve the world of music. In 2002, she released an autobiography titled Bapi The love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. She also acted on movie in 2003. Her role was as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka shankar is a rising superstar and her fame will keep on growing. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi later relocating to California where she went to the high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi just four years after. Alongside her father, he toured the world Anoushka racked up a wealth of experiences appearing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also making recordings alongside George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was presented to her by the British Parliament in recognition of being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and is the smallest recipient of this prize.
